Specification comparison

EINSTAR VEGA vs Revopoint MIRACO Plus

Compare EINSTAR VEGA and Revopoint MIRACO Plus by capture method, working distance, object range, onboard workflow and current evidence limits.

Quick decision

  • Put EINSTAR VEGA on the demo list when a wide stated working range and a compact all-in-one workflow are central to the job.
  • Put MIRACO Plus on the demo list when its documented optical zoom, photogrammetry capability and published small-to-large object range fit the project.
  • Delay the decision when the job depends on traceable inspection, an exact US package price or an unverified downstream software feature.

EINSTAR VEGA and Revopoint MIRACO Plus are portable all-in-one scanners aimed at buyers who want to capture without keeping a workstation tethered to the scanner. Their shared format does not make them interchangeable. The useful choice depends on object range, surface, detail, onboard processing, storage and the file that must enter the next workflow.

We have not run a controlled head-to-head test. The table separates manufacturer claims from editorial interpretation and leaves unverified fields as unknown.

What the specification table cannot answer

Accuracy, precision, point distance and resolution describe different properties. A smaller published number does not guarantee better final geometry. Surface preparation, tracking, operator technique, calibration, object size and processing settings affect the result. The comparison therefore requires the same object, environment and acceptance method.

Neither current evidence set proves a traceable metrology workflow. A buyer who needs inspection results should ask for the relevant standard, calibration process, volumetric behavior and uncertainty tied to the required tolerance.

Compare the capture workflow

Small detailed parts

Use a part with edges, holes, recesses and a known reference dimension. Check whether the scanner tracks without excessive markers, whether the smallest feature survives meshing and how much cleanup is required. MIRACO Plus publishes a 10 mm minimum cube in its brochure, but that bound does not prove useful detail on every 10 mm object. VEGA requires the same object-level validation.

Medium mechanical objects

Scan a housing, tool or automotive component with mixed geometry. Record preparation, capture, alignment and cleanup time. Deliberately include a dark or mildly reflective area. The useful result is the exported file, not the live preview.

Large objects

Capture a long object with known dimensions at both ends. Check for accumulated drift and incomplete registration. MIRACO Plus states a maximum object cube of 4 m, while VEGA records a longer maximum working distance in the reviewed material. These numbers answer different questions.

Mobile operation

Run a complete job away from the workstation. Measure battery behavior, storage use, project recovery, screen visibility and export time. Confirm whether the onboard unit can process the largest normal project or only capture it.

Software and downstream work

Ask each vendor to demonstrate the same path.

  1. Capture the representative object.
  2. Align multiple passes without hiding manual corrections.
  3. Remove background and unwanted geometry.
  4. Fill only the holes allowed by the acceptance brief.
  5. Mesh at a documented setting.
  6. Export at correct scale and units.
  7. Open the file in the target CAD, inspection or printing software.

If editable CAD is required, request a separate quote and workflow for reconstruction. Scanner software commonly creates points and meshes rather than a finished parametric model.

Cost comparison checklist

Request a regional written quote for the scanner, included accessories, computer or tablet requirements, software tier, storage expansion, targets, spray, calibration, training, warranty, repair shipping and taxes. Ask whether firmware or software updates change file compatibility. A public device price without the required workflow components is incomplete.

Use the same object, environment and acceptance rule for both scanners. Use "Unknown" where a vendor still owes you an answer.

1. Describe your job2. Record the evidence3. Copy or download TXT

Fill the required fields before export.

Use the same objects, environment and acceptance rules for both scanners. A result cannot win because the operator changed the sample or spent more cleanup time on one device.

  1. Select one small detailed part, one medium mixed-surface part and one long object.
  2. Mark the critical feature and at least two known dimensions on each object.
  3. Record lighting, surface preparation, markers, mode, distance and operator.
  4. Save raw projects before editing.
  5. Time preparation, capture, alignment, meshing, correction and export separately.
  6. Use each vendor's recommended settings, then record every manual change.
  7. Open both exports in the same downstream application and complete the same next task.
  8. Repeat the most important scan once.
  9. Keep original failures. Do not replace them with a later successful attempt without counting both.

Frequently asked questions

Is MIRACO Plus more accurate than EINSTAR VEGA?

Its brochure states a smaller accuracy number, but the figures do not establish a controlled head-to-head result. Test both on the same reference and ask how each value was measured.

Can both scanners work without a laptop?

Both are presented as all-in-one systems. Validate whether the complete normal project can be captured, processed, stored and exported onboard.

Which is better for reverse engineering?

The better unit is the one that produces a usable file from your representative part with acceptable preparation and reconstruction time. Include the CAD step in the demo.

Where can I buy them?

Current US price and stock were not verified in this source record. Use the official research links, confirm region and package, and avoid relying on an undated price excerpt.

How we work

Research methodology

Official manuals, technical sheets and current product pages lead the evidence hierarchy. Missing fields stay visible as questions for the vendor.

  1. Define the object, output and acceptance method.
  2. Record calibration, software, workstation and operator.
  3. Compare the final deliverable under the same protocol.
  4. Keep failed scans and document every manual correction.

Published specifications describe manufacturer claims. A buyer test with your own object remains the final decision step.
